Every day I’m thankful for Kaisertown and the way that it has changed the scope of my life over the last year and a half. This blog started as a fun way to document the things I discovered in my new neighborhood and has ended up being a forum for discussion about issues, ideas, history and plans for the future.
I’m thankful for the people who comment on the posts with constructive thoughts and who have helped me learn the history of our community. I’m also thankful that I …am fortunate enough to live in an area that has a unique personality and is distinct within Buffalo. I’m thankful that I don’t have to drive to get to a park, to buy milk or to drink a beer at a gin mill.
I’m thankful that the future is starting to look brighter for Kaisertown and that more neighbors are engaging in projects and meetings to make improvements. I’m thankful that we have neighbors who care about each other and that we have the luxury of living in a community where violent crime is minimal. I am thankful that I can walk alone without feeling harassed or unsafe, especially in a world where that is often not the case for women.
I’m thankful for the people who are still proud to say they are from Kaisertown. I’m thankful for the people who have lived here their entire lives and haven’t left for “greener pastures”. I’m thankful that I have the opportunity to continue contributing in 2016 to make our neighborhood a happier, kinder, more beautiful home for all of us.
Happy Thanksgiving Kaisertown!
